With just under 10,000 residents, Chamblee is a smaller city located in Dekalb County, just northeast of Atlanta. Chamblee offers close proximity to Interstate 285 and MARTA. Because of its size, it is often overlooked when people look for suburban Atlanta homes, but the truth is it has plenty to offer new residents.

Local Attractions

Dozens of restaurants and retail shops sit along Peachtree Boulevard and Buford Highway in Chamblee. Some popular restaurants in the area include Old Brick Pit BBQ and The Mad Italian. Chamblee is also home to the Broad Street Antique Mall, which features over 20,000 square feet of antique shopping. Chamblee’s downtown area is also a popular spot for antiquing and attracts people from all over the Metro Atlanta area. Because of its size, Chamblee residents often venture out to Brookhaven, Dunwoody, and Buckhead to find things to do. Head northwest across 285 to Perimeter Mall, where you will find hundreds of stores and restaurants. Just west of Chamblee, in Brookhaven, is the 135-acre Murphey Candler Park, which is great place to go fishing, have a picnic, walk, hike, swim, play tennis, or get involved with youth sports. The Peachtree Golf Course backs up to Chamblee’s southwestern border.

Real Estate

Many of the homes in Chamblee are mid-century styles like brick ranch, split-levels, and two-story brick. You’ll find several quiet, established neighborhoods here, as well as new construction, with prices generally in the $200,000s and $300,000s. Some of the more popular neighborhoods in Chamblee include Sexton Woods, Keswick Village, Clairmont Park, and Huntley Hills.


Children living in Chamblee will attend one of five Dekalb County elementary schools, including Ashford Park, Dresden, Montgomery, Huntley Hills, and Kittredge Magnet. Huntley Hills Elementary is known for its popular Montessori program. Middle School students will attend either Chamblee or Sequoyah Middle, while high school students will attend either Chamblee Charter or Cross Keys High. Chamblee Charter High School is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and Newsweek magazine ranks it number 215 of the best 1500 high schools in the country. Private educational institutions in the area include Marist School or Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School.
